Greece Yoga Practice 2019
11th – 18th May 2019
18th – 25th May 2019
As we have already had significant interest for these weeks in Greece, if you would like to reserve your place we are asking a holding deposit of £50. The provisional cost for each week is £520 (shared accommodation) and £630 (single room) which includes accommodation and Yoga for the week. We will confirm costs and accommodation in early October ,your deposit becomes refundable when we do. We will also keep an eye on the Brexit situation in case we have to make any significant changes. In the meantime please DO NOT book any flights etc until we have confirmed dates and prices in October.
Join us on the beautiful island of Lesvos in Greece for our Summer Yoga Practice 2019. During the week there will be two yoga sessions each day on the roof terrace, with mountain and sea views. We will have a two hour practice in the morning before it gets too hot, and two hours in the late afternoon when it is cooler. The rest of the day will be yours to relax, spend time on the beach or explore the island. The week is designed to offer you the space of a retreat but also to allow you to add in the elements of a holiday.
Our Yoga is accessible to all levels of experience and during this practice our priorities are a sense of quietening and physical grounding. These things take time, and over the week we will gradually slow down, become aware and learn to breathe again. We use a combination of subtle movement and conscious posture, developing sensitivity and intuition. Throughout this process we learn to listen to the way our body communicates to us and we respond with gestures, settlings, and the creation of spaces. Our yoga is an opportunity to engage fully with ourselves and then to rest deeply.
Away from the yoga mat Skala Eressos is a small and friendly beachside village that has a number of small shops selling local, and often organic fruit and vegetables. There are a variety of tavernas and restaurants that offer both Greek and more international food. The beach is less than five minutes walk from the accommodation and the swimming is safe. At this time of year the beach is very quiet, the sea warm and the temperature generally around the early/mid twenties. If you’re feeling adventurous you can hire a car and go and explore some of the island, or just wander along the seafront visiting the many tavernas. There are also short walks to the local village and the nearby hills offer spectacular views. We will be staying at Aumkara, self contained apartments a few meters from the beach. Your accommodations are simple but comfortable; rooms are spacious and cool. Each apartment has a small kitchen area where you can make a snack or breakfast; most apartments have an outside area to sit and there is a roof terrace where you can go to relax and enjoy the views when not doing yoga.
There are a variety of ways to get to Lesbos, you can fly directly to the island from either Gatwick or Manchester with Thomas Cook Airlines, alternatively you can fly to Athens and then either catch a ferry or fly to the island. Once you get to Lesbos, Skala Eressos is about 2 hours drive, away but we can help with arranging transfers to the village, or you can make your own arrangements.
