‘yogabodywork’ is a holistic bodywork process which combines yoga
techniques, massage and hands on energy methods to form an adaptable therapeutic approach to mind body and health.

'yogabodywork' brings together our combined training and experience in both Yoga and bodywork traditions so that we can work with both health and practise issues through individual sessions. So, whether you are dealing with a persistent health issue or struggling with an aspect of your Yoga practise, ‘yogabodywork’ will help provide insight, awareness and practical suggestions.

‘yogabodywork’ can help with issues of pain, muscular stiffness,
joint problems, stress, anxiety, emotional blocks and postural
awareness. We view each person in a holistic and unique way and each session is geared towards improving overall well being, energy and health. Whilst we will work with specific issues we will always maintain an overview of your well being. We are also more than happy to work with people in a non-specific way to increase personal awareness or to enhance Yoga practise.


We have a wide range of experience and training in both Yoga and
bodywork and may use techniques and perspectives based on a number
of different disciplines in any one session. This allows us to
respond to the body’s needs and works with the principle that the
body leads any healing it requires and that the therapist is there
to guide you through the process.

Your session will be individually orientated towards your needs.
We use touch, massage and stretching in any combination in response to your bodies subtle language. You may want work with a specific issue or restriction that is affecting you or allow your body to determine what areas we work with.

We recognise that ‘yogabodywork’ is just a part of the process of
well being so we are happy to recommend exercises, Yoga practises,
and postural adjustments that may dovetail into your session and
enable you to engage with your health over the days and weeks
following your session.

In the main, our procedures don’t require the removal of any clothing.We don’t tend to use oils although this may be appropriate in some cases. We will work with you throughout the process in a respectful, non-invasive and confidential way.

what we do

Yoga;
Using the practise of Yoga asanas, or postures, in the bodywork field adds an important dimension to our work. Stretching, gentle
manipulation and hands on work can all be enhanced by moving the
client into easy yoga postures. These affect energy flow, tension
release and spaciousness in the body and mind. You may also be given a few asanas to work with to help the process that the body is going
through.

touch;
From an energetic point of view our hands-on work borrows from
disciplines such as quantum touch, body harmony and energy medicine.We use touch to listen to the tissues and the vibrational energy of the hands to unwind and release held patterns and restrictions.

breath;
The breath is vital to the process of our work, and during a session we will use the flow of breath to bring greater awareness to the body and its beingness. We will work with the mechanics of the breath to release areas of tension and restriction and the energetic aspects ofbreath to bring greater awareness to breathing habits.

ayurveda;
Drawing on the ancient traditions of Ayurveda we will be able to help you work out your ‘Prakriti’, or essential biological constitution. This process can influence anything and everything; from your choice of diet, the way you practise Yoga, to working with your emotions. This Ayurvedic model of health embraces all aspects of being and aims to help us live in awareness and balance with our strengths and challenges as human beings. It is a non judgemental, creative and practical approach to life.

massage;
Movement and massage of the body tissues is a fundamental way to
increase circulation in the body thereby clearing out toxins and
improving nutrition to the cells. Massage increases warmth in the
tissues and stimulates lubrication in the joints and is an excellent way to convey a sense of groundedness and security in periods of stress and anxiety. In a session we may use more traditional massage techniques and those lead by the body.

gravity awareness;
When our relationship to gravity is brought into more awareness our movements, posture and energy become more balanced and efficient. In our bodywork sessions we will give you feedback about the ways in which you relate to the force of gravity and how increased awareness and subtle adjustment can bring an enhanced sense of well being and ease into your life.
