‘the anatomy of Yoga’
Saturday 29th November 2008
Falmouth sports Club, Western Terrace, Falmouth.
9.30am – 12.30pm
cost £12 (£10 concessions)
This morning workshop takes a look inside your Yoga practice and explores some of the challenges of practising Yoga in a human body. We ask questions like ‘why can’t I touch my toes? Why are my shoulders so tight? Why do my knees hurt in this pose? And many more! Whilst staying primarily with the physiological process of Yoga postures we will also look at the role of the mind by exploring how memory, intention and emotion can affect our physical movement.
We will build the morning around a typical Yoga class, pausing frequently to address questions as they arise. By the end of the morning it is hoped that you will have a working knowledge of your own musculature and the basic physiological process of practising Yoga. There will be ample opportunity to address any specific issues you may have. Andrew will lead the workshop assisted by his life-size skeleton model so that you can have a visual, tactile and experiential reference to the postures we do.
Booking will be in advance only and spaces are limited so please book your place early. If you have any questions prior to booking please contact us on 01326 375191 or by email at info@athayoga.co.uk

day
workshops with andrew.
Andrew has studied all aspects of the Classical Yoga
system and worked with many teachers from the diverse schools of Yoga.
He is also interested in how the ancient Yoga philosophies of Vedanta
and Samkhya, and its sister sciences like Ayurveda can be incorporated
into our contemporary understanding and practice of Yoga. For him, Yoga
is truly an holistic practise which sheds light on all of our experiences,
sensations and feelings as human beings. As such Yoga becomes part of
our personal evolution encouraging effort and acceptance in equal measure,
a way of finding peacefulness within and without.
Andrew’s aim is to make each day a complete experience,
establishing good practice in what you already understand and opening
up new paths of interest for the future. Both seasoned Yogis and beginners
are welcome as each person is encouraged to practise within their own
abilities. However, anyone with acute or long term injury or illness
should talk to Andrew before booking.
