andrew

I have been practising various forms of Yoga for over twenty years now and find that it continues to evolve and allow my changing sense of self expression, my relationship with my bodymind and the world around me. Yoga is the great container; a space for me to play, explore and observe from; a grand stage upon which I can relate to the archetypal, symbolic and visceral aspects of being human. Although I have a traditional training, these days my Yoga is fluid and ultimately adaptable, embracing modern research, ancient knowledge and the unique challenges of our modern age.

I use the fundamental ideas of ancient Yoga philosophy and try to meld these into a contemporary understanding of movement, breath, posture and being. My Yoga ethos is about how we can learn to live more at ease within our bodies and cultivate spaciousness in our minds, developing compassion, strength and equanamity through our practice. It is a practise that always begins 'where we are', and includes light and dark; the joy and the shadow aspects of being. My Yoga is an oportunity to turn up at my own life!

jerusha

My Yoga practice has taken me many places over the years, nourished me through two pregnancies, and grounded me when I have been scattered by life. I have purposely trained with a variety of disciplines including the Himalayan Institute, Don Stapleton and bodywork as a way to keep diversity and variety in my practice.

I am interested in; how the body remembers and holds memory as posture, movement and pattern; how the breath moves through every cell and ways we can work with it; and how the relationship between body and breath affect the mind. My classes are about integrating the whole of the self in a playful and pragmatic yoga pracise, taking it out of class and living more comfortably with ourselves and our world.

our classes
When you come to Andrew and Jerusha’s classes you are getting the opportunity to explore the many aspects of Classical Yoga. We both come to Yoga from the perspective of integrating body and mind disciplines into an holistic way of teaching. We are both trained bodyworkers, and both have a regular Yoga and meditation practice. In our classes we aim to create a warm and welcoming environment where all students can feel comfortable and safe. In our experience, this allows each person to explore their Yoga practice to the full and work with some of the challenges and opportunities that Yoga often opens up.
