comments from our students

"Three years ago I left London for a quieter life in Cornwall. During this time out I have had many insights into achieving quality of life, the most essential of which has been the value of yoga. It has shown me that there is a way to re-energise after a hectic day. An additional, unexpected benefit, is that yoga also acts as a perfect antidote to my passion of long distance running. Not only have I learnt how to relax but I feel physically stronger, more resilient to injury, better able to deal with the inevitable aches and pains and somehow taller. Yoga is a tool I will take with me as I re-enter the rat race. I only hope that I will be able to find a teacher as inspirational and as in touch with his class as Andrew."

"My yoga practice has benefited enormously from Andrew and Jerusha's classes, and has helped to bring a lot of equilibrium of mind, body and spirit into my life. I have also gained insights into life skills that I use in my own teaching practice of creative writing, and indeed to my own writing."

"When I come out after class I feel so good, light and full of generosity and kindness ........ although you both teach in different ways I can't put into words the differences but I like both ways equally!"

"Going to yoga class is a very precious part of my week – my own few hours to listen to myself - stand back from the all the demands of everyday life, to stop, and to tune in a while. To me, it’s a reminder of myself as I am, before busy work and family life set the pace for me…………… of course, it is fantastic just to stretch out every little bit of you as well!! Time well spent!"

"It’s a bit like getting in a lovely bubbly bath, snuggling up in a blanket when it’s cold or getting home after a busy day at work – it’s very welcome."

"My yoga class brings me a sense of peace....I almost float home..... Andrew is a truly inspiring teacher..... Jerusha is a very caring and empathetic teacher."

Andrew

I have been practising Yoga for over twenty years and it has provided me with continuity and foundation throughout my life. I am indebted to many wonderful teachers over the years from all over the world. My approach to teaching is born from a belief that the classical Yoga teachings offer a rich vein of insight and wisdom which can make a real difference to our lives here and now.

I use the fundamental ideas of ancient Yoga philosophy and try to meld these into a contemporary understanding of movement, breath, posture and being. My Yoga ethos is about how we can learn to live more at ease within our bodies and cultivate spaciousness in our minds, developing compassion, strength and adaptability through our practice.

Jerusha

My Yoga practice has taken me many places over the years, nourished me through two pregnancies, and grounded me when I have been scattered by life. I have purposely trained with a variety of disciplines including the Himalayan Institute, Don Stapleton and bodywork as a way to keep diversity and variety in my practice.

I am interested in; how the body remembers and holds memory as posture, movement and pattern; how the breath moves through every cell and ways we can work with it; and how the relationship between body and breath affect the mind. My classes are about integrating the whole of the self in a playful and pragmatic yoga pracise, taking it out of class and living more comfortably with ourselves and our world.

our classes

When you come to Andrew and Jerusha’s classes you are getting the opportunity to explore the many aspects of Classical Yoga. We both come to Yoga from the perspective of integrating body and mind disciplines into an holistic way of teaching. We are both trained bodyworkers, and both have a regular Yoga and meditation practice. In our classes we aim to create a warm and welcoming environment where all students can feel comfortable and safe. In our experience, this allows each person to explore their Yoga practice to the full and work with some of the challenges and opportunities that Yoga often opens up.
